I think it is terrible what the dealer did to the OP as a denial based on "fluids" and "driving style" are bogus. Fluids could be checked without teardown of trans and driving style is not able to be monitored or proven in any fashion. They were planning on screwing him from the door hence the preauthorization for $1600. How did this ever play out?
Stupid statement by expecting the dealer to cover a part under the extended warrenty......I expect people to get a grip on real prices or would you like me to install a cd deck that costs $100 total including install for you for $400 just cause I m certified. (I wouldnt mind making extra cash on someone who is willing to get ripped off ) Dealerships f people over all the time, especially when it comes to maintaince and warrenting out labor. I didnt mention but the dealers wanted me to pay a additional $900 for a part that says specifically in my warrenty that it is covered for 2 years.

Man that sucks...its funny how they switched the denial reason after you got the two samples of fluid. Besides driving style cannot be proved by parts failures. I'm just happy that when I had a warranty my dealer was really helpful in getting things covered. Find a new dealer later for sure.

Well, my 5th grinds too. but I'm wary of taking to the dealer. No boost mods, but do have headers and exhaust...I guess it doesn't hurt to at least ask??

Well, my 5th grinds too here in Costa Rica... Very sad, it is just at high RPMs so I think it is time to refresh the transmission. Just for the records I already replace the ACD, the last owner did a terrible care job.
Now I do have a question, does anyone knows where I can purchase the synchros and more parts for the transmission?
Thanks for the help guys you do not have idea of how difficult is to get parts here...
