Lightbulb Super light weight driveshaft

Is anyone making a super strong and light weight driveshaft, a carbon or a aluminium shaft. My friend installed a high performance aluminium shaft on his Mustang for $200 and it felt really great. This will be a nice mod if it cost around $300-$400 for the Evo.

No chance......There is a 4 piece unit on the evo, with a fluid joint at the front...very expensive to re-produce

That would be great to decrease the Torque losses by having a lower moment of inertia from the driveshaft(s). But if the Evo's is a 4 piece that would be expensive to fabricate. But who knows, we can just wait and see.

Someone needs to make one. At least make one of the shafts, the one to the rear diff. This can be great for the those who launch their Evo or just want to save weight.

The driveshaft is no narrow its not a huge difference. Going to a full one piece carbon fiber shaft on a 2g DSM is only 11 pounds lighter, doing the rear section alone might be a third that gain... And if it WERE to shatter, which is most definitley should not....you'd be....irritated.

Shedding rotational mass makes much more of an impact that shedding an equal weight of body weight. It would almost be the same effect as a lighter flywheel, but the driveshaft doesn't spin at the same speed as the engine.
