About time these came out. I just wasn't expecting Garrett themselves to design it but Forced Performance. I wonder if these are the 2000 grade aluminum wheels or the 6061.

A projected 10% increase in flow, but looking at the compressor map of the 4294 it was well more than 10%.
From the information I heard a while back, these turbos are specifically targeted at mopping the floor with their competitors. The claim of 10% airflow was mentioned to be conservative and also accompanied by "as fast, or faster spool."

Considering the past ties FP has had with Garrett (BigT28 I think was actually retailed as an official Garrett 2G DSM bolt-on upgrade) and their ties with Tial on some housings they have used (tial also being heavily tied in with Garrett), I have to wonder if the HTA series has some borrowed technology from this new series and maybe we already have some smaller GTR-X turbos available to us. All speculation of course.

I would be surprised if Garrett used 6061, considering the poor fatigue characteristics of 6061. The blades actually undergo pretty high strains from what I have read and with Garrett having a lot of history in stuff like F1turbo design, I'm betting they have some pretty special alloys.

I think that T7 7075 is used for these wheels

Sub'd as we were briefly chatting about these at the shop when i picked up my PTE 6262 non-water cooled unit.

To whoever mentioned it i too was wondering how much info was shared if any from FP to Garrett or vice versa???

I went w/ the 6262 and sure hope the new center cartridge lives up to what they claim......

The gent I talked to divulged no information on that subject. What I know from FP is that their's was in house.

I have yet to see a PTE BB fail myself.. Thats the dead honest truth.. at 49psi on a baby 6262 and it ran like a champ..

If Garrett starts with the billet turbos themselves, i think we will see turbochargers going to another level and us becoming poorer by changing turbo again! HAHAHA
