I will probably end up taking it to the shop to get it inspected but can you please PM with more information about the service you attained from Shep? I was going to go with that route since I will be pulling the tranny this winter. Thanks.

Update: Now the car doesn't even shift into second gear even when it is turned off. Could this be due to the shifter base being broken? I glued everything back together and will put it on once I get home to test it out. I am in the process of buying a used one as we speak.

Update: Well I have been taking the car apart for my build and when I drained the ACD there was barely anything in it. It was sludgy and a dark grayish color. Could that have anything to do with the car not shifting into second gear?

If your TC has never been out, I doubt it's the smaller or larger o ring between the trans and TC.

Have you checked the seal from where the drive shaft enters the TC? I had a leak there and it would drop right down onto the exhaust.

Is the leak between the TC and trans, or is the fluid further back?

Thanks guys but I have figured the problems out. The transfercase is leaking due to a tiny pin-hole. I also took the transmission apart and it is the second gear synchronizer spring. It has quite a bit of play and will not let the sleeve go over it.

I am having the same problem now. Let me guess, the seal where the drive shaft enters the TC is cheap, but requires $1000 in labor? Any ideas? -stuie

Did your down pipe rub onto your transfer case?

Ok, change in answer. The DP melted a hole in the TC. Crap. Anyone else had this problem? It's the AMS 3", and it used to clear the TC fine, but no longer.

Yes I had this problem. The solution I have for you is to replace the top cover on the transfer case along with the gasket and hammer the shiznit out of the down pipe. That's what I did and problem solved!
