Exclamation Transfercase leaking?

Hey everyone I seem to be having a problem that is bothering me quite a bit. Recently my car has been smelling really bad after making some pulls. It smelt like burnt transmission fluid or transfercase fluid? checked underneath the car and it drips really slightly onto the garage floor. I checked underneath the car and found my downpipe completely covered in this fluid! I took the downpipe off yesterday, cleaned everything up with engine degreaser so I can observe whether it happens again or not. I woke up this morning to go to work and bam there are little drips again.

The odd thing I noticed is that it will not drip while driving normally or letting it idle but under WOT, you can clearly smell it. Another fact to note is that my car will not shift into second gear anymore unless I am under WOT. Here is thread where I posted a picture of my downpipe. I am getting a Shep tranny anyways this winter but I don't want to risk blowing anything up or tearing something from my drivetrain apart before then. Let me know what you guys think!

It's in the right spot for a case leak, but it doesn't seem to be dripping off the housing. How about getting under there and running your hand up the back of the block above the oil pan, if you get alot of oil around the edges there and it looks like it might be leaking onto that, then look on the back of your valve cover, check the PCV valve and all that to see if the leak might be coming from up there instead... it will follow its way down there.

Well when I checked underneath it was on the housing and it got all the way down to my test pipe. I used my hands to feel around but there was absolutely nothing leaking up top. I re-torqued the transfercase bolts that had oil on it to see if the leaking stopped. I noticed that my downpipe melted the side of the transfercase a little bit. Once again I wiped the area down to see if anything else was noticable and hammered the downpipe so it wouldn't touch again.

depending on the rub i have see a non acd exhaust rub a tiny pin hole in that acd housing.... Also it could either be one of the two o rings or just over filled and leaking from the vent on top... Check around the vent

I don't think it is leaking from the vent up top because it just recently started to happen. How can I check if it is leaking from a tiny pin hole like that? One thing I just noticed in the cabin is that my plastic shifter base piece is broken. The left rear washer is completely torn off and results in the base moving when I shift. Could this be the reason why it won't let me into gear? I drove the car out of work just a couple minutes ago and now it won't even go into second gear in high rpms, low rpms and even at a stand still.

I tightened the bleeder screw down quite a bit but didn't want to put to much force on it but I am still leaking somewhere.

I do quite frankly launch quite a bit. I have never smelt my clutch to this day and I actually break the tires loose when I do launch. So far I have gotten 40+ launches on the stock clutch and it still holds strong.

Hasn't this potentially been a problem for you? Do you check the levels quite a bit? How often do you add more?

Well when my tcase started leaking, it turned out to have a hairline crack in where it connects to the tranny. The shop I had inspect it believed it to be the seals being damanged...but it turned out to be a bigger problem. I believe it was due to hard launching/ preivous owner abuse.

Anyways I sent it out to shep and had it rebuilt w/lsd and it works amazing now.
