At least your MPH is consistent
this has nothing to do with brand loyalist, the truth is that if you were to look at the stronger and more efficient design of the HKS throw out bearing clip/retainer you can see its far superior. I dont think you've had both clutches in your hand and compared, I have. Not too many people actually know how these clutches work or how they are different than the average clutch. While the Exedy is by no means a ****ty clutch it has its flaws. It grabs much more violently than the HKS even though they both share the same clutch material, and they both support the same hp/torque levels. This is only my personal experience.

damn you busted up two exedy clutches, i am still trying to bust my stock, damn thing is still holding up, after so much abuse.

i would def. call the company see if they will hook you up with another, these big companys will not want bad advertisment of thier prouducts espesially on this site, which the majority of evo owners read.

good luck

DO NOT LET THE CLUTH OUT SLOWLY AT HIGH RPM

you guys are not driving your cars right. Do not listen to the idiot that said, "slip your clutch out slow". That burns the hell out of your clutch. Take it from me, i installed my own clutch on MY EVO.

superz, which HKS twin plate setup are you referring to: the GD Pro or GD Clutch Max? Thanks!

the GD Max set-up is the one im talking about. The GD pro is a non-sprung hub design-not streetable. The only downside to any twin-disc setup is the clutch chatter/noise that they make when the clutch is depressed or when decelarating, but you grow used to it.

Superz,

Did you have both of those clutches in your Evo? If not, I don't know how you can be so critical of the Exedy. Mine isn't grabby at all - maybe the single plates are, but the twin is awesome for daily driving. It's one of the most forgiving clutches I've driven.

The only flaw I would mention about the Exedy (coming from experience) is that it makes more noise than some people are comfortable with. I don't know what you mean by violently. As it has been said, you can break any quality part if it's not installed or used properly (and if I know Rollaway, it was used properly ).

Do the HKS clutches come with a light weight flywheel like the exedy clutches?

Yes they do and I also like the small springs between the plates to smooth engagement.

I actually have driven a buddies EVO with the exedy setup. I personally don't like it like as much as I do the HKS, that's all.
Twin, by the way. But to each its own.
