Difference in 03-05 coil packs and 04-06 ??

Called my local mitsu parts dept inquiring about coils, because the last set I bought were from NAPA and I think were not good enough. They asked for the VIN # because the coils were specific to the year of the car. Two different ones popped up, one for $80 and one for $240. I asked what the difference was between them, and the guy didnt have a clue.
Does anyone know the difference in these coil packs ?

Physically, they looked the same to me. I had an 03 set and an 06 set....the only difference i could think is due to a different spark plug in the 06 cars but not sure if the coils would have changed. Best advice is to see who got a set for sale...or save up and get a sparktech setup!

I believe you have the years wrong in your title. The coil packs for 03-05 should all be the same. In 2006 the evo received mivec on the head which required the use of different coils

I am currently using evo 9 coil packs in my evo 8. I had to change the plug wires out though. The evo 9 plug wire seem to seat differently.
