evo9 motor problem

Ive got an evo 9 with 37k on it. Bought it with some issues to fix up. anyway, the issue im trying to tackle at this point is this: When driving the car, in any gear, theres a limiter not letting the car over 4500 rpms. A fellow tuner told me it was my MAF sensor since thats the code it was throwing (check engine). I replaced it with another evo 9 MAF and same problem. checked all the fuses inside the car and in the engine bay, nothing. any ideas?

maybe some wires cut off somewhere?

also my throttle cable is very loose. to get it to be tightened up its gotta be pulled away from the throttle body as much as it goes. can this be adjusted at the foot pedal or does it have something to do with the TB.

I thank you in advance for help. thanks!

does it chug hard at 4500 rpm? Could be one of your pipes poped out, check them
all by intake manifold all the way to intercooler, thier tricky lil things

no its not the piping, its like a rev limiter when driving that wont let the car get passed 4500.

id put up a code on here, but dont know it; never wrote it down.

is "limp mode" at 4500rpm?
if your engine is in limp mode, the ECU will be stopping it revving above 4500rpm?

Find someone in your area that has a tactrx cable and log it, and attempt to pull codes. Those two things will gelp some of the techs on here help you.

are all three green light on your dash lit up? if so, it is limp mode and you have to go to the dealer to get it cleared

fix the cable by loosening up the 2 10mm bolts that bolt down the cable to the intake manifold. hold the TB shut and pull the cable all the way back, while still holdn the TB shut and keepn tension on the cable, have someone tighten the bolts.

And if its running good just not going above 4500,... id say its IN/stuck IN valet mode???

Edit : Go back to that Tuner and have him take your VALET mode OFF,.. if thats what it is but im 86.34% it is.

ive run the car with the original airbox setup with snorkel fastened down and an aftermarket intake setup. does not change anything.

the green lights are fine, acd switch works perfectly fine.

It seems that that would make it worst? if i pulled it while the TB was shut, it would make the fastener go back even further. i need it to come closer to the TB.

I asked my tuner about the valet mode. Falls out of question because the check engine light would flash. The code reads MAF sensor fault...

1. sounds like a pipe is popped off some were
2. you should be able tighten the tb cable like that was posted before by loosing the two nuts and pulling the cable away from the tb and at some point it should get tight you don't even have to hold the throttle body shut just dont pull the cable to tight or you will open the tb just pull it tight to the point of it getting ready to open

1. no hose is popped off.
2. if you read my post carefully, i have already pulled the cable tight, its just all the way to one side. its supposed to be directly in the middle correct? or does it really not matter.
