HKS 272 were in my car and good lord what a difference over stock cams. My mods were intake, 3" exhaust, 23 psi, fuel pump, IX bov. Have a friend with same mods and he put down a few hp shy of 300 at the wheels on pump gas. Stock VIII puts down only 230-240 whp.

Hks 272 camshafts are old news.

Go with the Gsc s2's and you will make more power on the stock turbo.

do GSC S2's kill your throttle response and low/mid power range like kelford 272's on a low HP car?

choose a cam to suit your turbo. 264 would be better suited for your turbo.

Yes I agree with all the guys running the GSC S1 cams, I loved them. I had to go to the GSC S2 when I upgraded to a larger turbo. I'm glad I went with GSC for choice of cams. But it's all about what you're trying to go for. I think the S1 cams are great for the stock turbo. I was running low 12s and pushing 330hp on 93 and on a stock turbo.

dude don't buy 264s and then regret not buying bigger cams. I'm sure down the road you might want to do a little more modding and the 264s will have to be changed anyway.

from the choice you have given, the S2s will probably do the better job. I would say go for the 272s too. Everyone knows the Evo could do with some more top end.

just remember if yo go with the S2's then you'll have to get springs and retainers as well. dont know if your on a budget. the S1's dont require them. if it was a IX i would say defintely go with the S2's but since you do not have Mivec then S1's will have a good bump in power. from what i have read about the S2'a they not hurt throttle response nor the mid range. i'm looking into getting them myself eventually. but i want my setup for the street so DDing it is my main concern and response is everything.

Bottom line is the S2s, the new version, will make you gobs of power. I have HKS 272/280 combo and I have great low end and topend. I hit 30psi at 3800rpms with a large magnus IM and all other mods. The HKS are great cams for DD but the S2s will give a stock turbo 20+hp and on my car and others like mine around 40+hp over the HKS cams. Also with MIVEC you can dial the car in so the S2s don't lose that much lowend. Do some research

There is a boat load of info on cams here. You have a lot of good info already in posts. Bigger isnt better and better is relative --depending on where in your power band you want better. Good Luck-- BTW I have HKS--272/264 with adj gears running +2-1 and I love it--great low end and midrange. I wanted drivability not top end HP.

Agreed that GSC2's make more power..but what about the drive ability and the fact that I use it as a daily car? Because even on the GSC's website it says that S2's are for larger tubo's...and there the fuel factor then, because the maximum available fuel we have available here is 91 octane.
I think I will go with HKS, just a more sensible decision. Does any1 agree

This makes sense with drivability in mind.
