AMS evo Cam Test is based on a Race Engine with All the supporting mods in the world, so i dont think i can compare my car to that setup

it gives you a general idea where the cams are going to make power.

incorrect.
i've got kelfords in my car, only putting out low power.
and it's makes it an absolute dog to drive on the road.
I'm probably going to go back to stock cams.

for low power outputs with high response etc, id say you can't go past the HKS cams, 264 or 272.
At least you know you're getting a proven product.

huh?

Kelfords not making power?! im throughly confused on that one....

I ran with hks 272's but felt I left a lot of power on the table, Are you picking cams to grow into or are you sticking with a stock turbo? If so, I would run GSC1 cams, my best friend has them in his car and i think its pretty nice

yeah they are making power, but they are a high hp cam.
they made my setup very laggy, even with the stock turbo.
people often dont talk about stuff like this, they just talk about HP gains and thats it.
my car because more laggy, coming onto boost and transient response.
in my books thats not a good enough trade off for the high HP.

what do you mean you left a lot of power on the table?

Not really sure why someone would want to have cams as their first mod for a stock setup in the first place. You should really read the modding your evo $100 at a time thread if you haven't yet. I would certainly start elsewhere on a stock evo. Just my .02.

I think the best all around cam is the GSC1

Again, many people choose the setup of HKS 264 / 272

The HKS 272 on my car made great power and held up great to about 500 whp - I can tell though after other cams came out that I had power left on the table....

I would buy the GSC1 cams and be happy with it....

Oh ok. That makes things much different. Heard that the HKS cams weren't much of an upgrade from a stock cam. Pretty mild. I would listen to some of the posts above as they are correct in saying it depends on your mod plans. Stock turbo on pump fuel I would says the GSC S1's would be the way to go. Plans for higher boost with some race fuel or upgrade to a bigger turbo then the S2's would be appropriate.

Disregard the HKS comment. I failed to see you had a evo vii. But I would say a GSC s1 cam would do well with your setup.

The HKS are milder than the GSC2's. With the HKS you are just really paying for the name. I would go with the GSC2's.
