Time to eliminate some of the CONFUSION with the "hacking" that is involved with our SS.
First off, our SS is adjustable. We have a groove to show where the stock setting is, and a groove showing a 50% reduction. If you choose the 50% reduction setting, you will have to cut some of the plastic off the shifter box. The plastic that is removed has no effect on the integraty of the shifter box. The time it takes to cut this out isn't any more than 10min with normal tools you have laying around.
Secondly, YOU DON'T HAVE TO CUT ANYTHING if you don't want anymore than 25-30% reduction in throw. Most people do the cutting because when they find out how nice the 40% or 50% reduced throw is, they don't go back to the 25-30%. If you are refering to the cutting of the stock shifter to get the plastic bushing bracket off, unless you buy one from a dealer, you will still have to do that on any other SS. And like we suggest to our dealers and customers, buy one from the dealer. We do not supply this part because there is no reason to pass the cost of us buying the part to the dealer, who then has to mark it up on their end.
Some people like the fact that the B&M can be installed in 20min, so can ours if you don't want the higher 50% redcution.
I surely hope that the "getting product out fast to make a buck" comment wasn't directed at us. We have had an EVO since the day you could buy one, and have been testing and pruving parts since then. We ensure that there will be no problems with our shifter since we have taken the time to have all of the parts of the Perrin SS hardened. This part will last the life of the car.

I found the easy way to get the plastic part off the old shifter is to just cut the weld that holds the weight on the top part of the shifter. It's a pretty small weld and easy to cut hrough and then I used an air hammer to knock it off the rest of the way.
The Perrin shifter is a very nice piece that is very well made, like the rest of thier stuff. I had a skunk2 shifter before in a honda and I'd say the Perrin was of better quality and Skunk2 has a quite a reputation too.
