Unhappy Just Installed B&B Catback + Downpipe

I just finished installing it. No problems with gaskets!! I have only driven it for 30 minutes. IT's sound nice and it's way smoother. But I don't really feel the power gains that I was supposed to.
Does the ECU have to adjust? Will it take some time? Do I have to reset it? Help me.

You didn't unplug the battery to install the exhaust? If not, unplug it for 20 minutes. Reset the ECU. Maybe that will make a difference. I installed the full Turbo Back with cat delete and I can tell a HUGE difference. I unplugged my battery during install. I don't know if that's why or not, but give it a try. Can't hurt.

I'm not a gasket expert, but they are dark blue maybe silicone gaskets. Kind of soft they definetly did the job for me. The stock ones look a bit more high quality, but they are much stiffer.

If you have a stock Evo, the exhaust kit you've installed would have smoothed out the torque curve but it does not mean it's not faster. You just don't feel the rough torque and your high end should have improved a bit. Just think about the old 5.0 Mustang with huge torque at the low end. You can feel the power (torque) on the Mustang but it doesn't really go that fast. Now think about a Honda S2000, you don't feel much torque but it goes pretty fast.

Since you did free up the exhaust a bit, you should get a drop in filter such as HKS foam to free up some intake flow. The HKS cost around $40. I would just get a drop in filter for now since most cone filter available for the Evo now don't seem to help much with the MAF system on the Evo.

Actually I heard on another thread that even the drop ins are not worth it. Because they mess with the MAF sensor

when i had my turboback installed (RMR) and perrin cat delete i noticed the pull right away as i was leaving the shop specially on higher rpms.i didnt took off the negative terminal of the battery since i think it wasnt necessary, the ecu for the evo has a good self learning program so lettin it run for a few minutes it should start adjusting to the flow of the exhaust.

I put on the UR test pipe and cat back and noticed moderat to big gains with out reseting the ECU. Turbo spooled a bit quicker and pulled more progessivley from 5K to 7.5K RPM. Stock from 5-7 was rougher on the power band. Somtimes felt dead after 5K.

Did you use the stock gasket for the downpipe for the B&B? I tried all weekend to get it on. There is just no way to start treading the bolts with that stock gasket.

I had to cut 2 rings off the springs that connected the DP to the turbo to get the freaking thing on tight. Other than that the only problem was there wasn't enough room on the flanges making it hard as hell to torque down.

When you cut the rings, did the springs still sit straight?

As of now I have mine without the gasket and I have to put it on but I wasn't too sure how to do it. I was either thinking of cutting the springs or just running to Ace Hardware and buying some new bolts that were just as long, but threaded the whole way up the bolt though.

I cut the springs with a dye grinder(<-- I think thats how to spell it) and then grinded the edge of the spring down to make it flat (does that make sense?). There were alot of sparks but everything seems to be fine. I thought I had a exhaust leak but it was just the air rushing through my UR cat.
