plugs gap and boost.

well after doing my own ignition mod by Monsta,I kept getting blowouts at around 5k. Well I kept making the spark plug gap smaller, it seemed like the boost was also decreasing. Now I am at .02 gap and the car was only spiking to 20psi no spark blow out though, before it was spiking well over that. So my question, can spark plug gap affect boost or it is more likely a boost leak. I can definetly feel the car slower.

BTW, I am running HTA GT3582R

I don’t believe spark has anything to do with boost unless its misfiring or knocking and pulling timing. It’s always worth checking for boost leaks if you haven’t yet, never now what you’ll find.

0.020" is pretty low, I doubt you should have to run that low of a gap. I doubt it has anything to do with the boost issue..

mine were suppose to be gaped at 24. but they were all wrong the shop messed up and did them wrong went to a new tuner and found out it was miss firing,so he pulled them and gaped down to a tight 22. which took the miss away...

Thank guys, I thought .02 was a little too close too, but no misfiring. Any ways I also wanna check the ignition system connections, but right now is getting really cold out here and no garage, thats why I havent done a leak test.

I have made upwards of 550whp (35psi) with a gap @ .20. I am using a dsm ignitor/coil pack. Of course if you can get away with a wider gap without missfire then go for it.

Is good to know that is safe and making good power, knowing that you are also using coil packs and ignitor.
I wanna check the connections next time is nice out.

Thanks for the post.
