calling all forward facing manifolds

well the time has now come for me to up the bar on my evo. i have been looking into peicing a kit together. first off i parted out my turbo honda and have a t3 60-1 .63a/r i was going to use that just for now on a forward facing manifold. is this turbo going to be decent or should i sell it asap and 35r right away?? and is the exhasut side gunna be to small and run outa breath up top since i have a 2.3 stroker engine right now. 2nd? is which forward facing manifold seems to be the favorite for placment and fit??

sorry to ask an off topic question, but what addvantages are there to forward facing manifolds compeard to traditional ones?? The exhaust gas still has to turn through 2 90* bends. Can you fit a fillter on the intake side of the turbo? dont they force you to run a smaller rad??

Cheers

Chris.

The forward facing manifold is really only an advantage to those looking to run open filter at the track to take advantage of air getting forced in the compressor as you go down the track. The bends are not an exact 90* because the turbo is tilted back just slightly. Some kits allow for a filter and some do not. If going for a kit, I would look at the Buschur as it looks to be the most complete. I see my self going down this road in the future after I string out the stock turbo on my 2.3.

Many people use ours with great results. However, it is very aggressive and will not fit a filter. Here are some pics of it installed on our car.

And some more can be found here

This manifold has gone 9.6@156 so far (with a 6262) with some room left. In other words, IT works.

More info on it can be found here

Videos of our car in action with this kit are in my sig.

your in the same boat as i am! i built a 2.3 top to bottom and never decidided on turbo setup so i just rocked a ported 9 turbo with the wastegate unhooked on e85. was fun for a short while and awsome street light to street light but dies off really bad up top and runs outa breath.

not looking for somthing crazy just a nice 550-600awhp.

no one ever answered my first ? is a t3 with a .63 a/r gunna die off up top as well cuz if so ill ditch the 60-1 i have lieing around for something else. im trying to avoid boost falling off i want it to rip all the way through the rpm range

Really the only front facing turbo manifolds I have seen come from STM, Buschur, AWD, AFI, and the fab worx one.

Honestly, I'm going with a front facing turbo and I won't run a filter, I will just make a block off plate for when I do street drive it, which won't be much.

What are you going to be blocking off? The compressor inlet?

stm manifold here...the quality is outstanding and the price is right.... The buschur mani is nice too because you can run a filter on it...I just cut a piece of sheet aluminum to fit in my grill so i dont suck in rocks when im driving around on the street...

im using a civic radiator and its working fine...even in stop and go traffic (80 degree heat) it never got too hot...im using an aluminum shroud and a spal fan so im sure that helps make a difference...i was considering an electric water pump too but i havent had the need just yet

ETS makes a great front facing kit, you can also run a filter with the kit. ETS can make the kit work with any turbo you want also.

Nobody is mentioning Shearer or Fullrace?

Check out this thread.

this one too.

I like the look of the ETS manifold. A filter is good on a street car.

Fab up a holset HX35.
