alcohol question

I was just wondering if it is possible to run on just alcohol? If you can what would need to be done to the motor besides bigger injectors, maybe bigger fuel pump, and obviously a tune? I see alot of power being made with it on bigger v8's so i figure it could work well with the 4g63s

Yes it is possible with the right combination of parts. The guys at English Racing use E98. I don't know of anyone that runs E100.

E98 is for all intense purposes straight ethanol. One of two things are being done: Nothing more than a name change, or 2% gas or mehtanol is being added. I cant smell gas at all in it, and tasting it by accident I cant say it burnt my mouth like it had methanol in it. If you are asking about straight methanol (which is pretty much the only thing alcohol V8s run...think Top Alcohol) yes you can but no you dont want to for anything but a dedicated track car.

yes i was talking about methanol. why would it wear your internals out faster? i run methanol in my go kart and it doesn't do too much damage. one down fall is you would have to drain the tank and lines after every use because it attracts moisture. Is there anyone on here that is running that stuff im interested in there setup?

Rau , Shep and Douglas automotive run Methanol . I think they run M1. For a pure track car it is no problem you just need to get the right AFR i would guess in the high 8's or 9:1. You will need big lines, big injectors and a huge fuel pump. Be ready to destroy a few parts getting the tune right. Since you will be running so much boost on methanol 40 psi+ you will get methanol in your oil and those 2 do not make a good combo plus with the added moisture you will usually go through bearings faster. Methanol is fun you can always mix in a little nitro : )

The AFR is actually down in the 3s and 4s. Alcohol cars are notorious for having issues keeping the bores round, and the power level that most people would run methanol at requires a hardblock which isnt exactly streetable. You'll need some pretty thick oil because of dillution, its not impossible just typically impractical for a street car. Anything less than a fuel racecar really probably doesnt need it. Its not just moisture it is also highly corrosive to aluminum so it needs backpurged just because of this.
