Old DSM tricks?

Happy holidays!

I was reading Dave B's intercooler cleaning thread and it reminded me of those tricks we used to do to our DSMs back in the day. Does anyone have any others that could be applied to our Evos?

For example, I remember taking the shift cables off of my '90 Laser fwd-t's shifter base and adjusting them until the second gear grind disappeared. That simple mod lasted over 100k miles! I also remember rewiring my fuel pump with a relay and maybe 8 ga wire to boost the volts seen by the pump.

Safe driving!

Pump rewire is a good mod, the shifter cables aren't the same design.

I also remember bypassing the coolant lines going into the throttle body on my DSM.

You can do that on your Evo too; I did.

If you bypass your coolant lines, you might get idle surge because the FIAV won't be able to function correctly. You'd also have to remove/block/eliminate the FIAV for the car to run right.
