+1 on doing it right the first time. Usually its the cheaper alternative in the long run

I assume you have the stock 03 04 transfer case? If so then it is weak as it is. I just sent my tc into shep and they are doing it with the full stage 2 as well as new ring and pinion for 1995. I just want the peace of mind that it wont break and it is basically a fresh transfer case. GOOD LUCK!

Just an FYI the $350 work they offer is not a rebuild at all. It's simply a preventative measure and to freshen things up. A rebuild is new parts, which like some one stated is over $1000.

My TC broke at the track today. Deciding what to do now (stationed in GA). BTW check your other thread about CT shops. GL again man

My X-mas girf to my car was 4th gear making some F'ed up noises. Yeah it's a Bushwaker trany also. $1200 later I bought a Sheptranny from a member on here. It will be here on Wednesday. I could of used the money for something else. But my Shep T-Case is awesome.

Is it for a EVO IX or VIII? Is it built or stock? Miles on it?

If you want to go cheap, buy a used TC off of someone and have Shep build it for $350. $900 (average price for a TC)+$350=$1250 total, excluding shipping and whatever else you need.

If you want a TC really cheap, try to find someone that is parting out their Evo that got laid off or something. Those guys are looking for quick cash, which is how I got a 40k mile rear diff for $300.

Shep trans will charge you $1500 for a rebuilt but he's giving you all brand new parts. It wouldn't even need a Stage anything for a long time. Really up to you.
