Ryu's hunting for 9's on the Stock Block
Ryu's hunting for 9's on the Stock Block
It's been a long road so far and it just keeps getting more exciting. I first purchased my Evo with the mindset that I would make this street car break 10's on the factory turbo. Last year around this time I achieved that goal and then some with a best ET of 10.805. Shortly after I moved up to the FP Red with intentions of having a 10.3-10.4 ET goal set for that project. Within a matter of a few months that goal was achieved as well with a best ET of 10.301.
Their after I realized, in hindsight, 10.3 is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from breaking into the 9's. I reluctantly, but willingly attempted to push the Red even further to see if it would be possible to achieve 9's on the stock block with a turbo that completely resembles a factory snail from the outside. Pushing the Red further yielded a substantial increase in mid range, however the 58lbs/min turbo was just out of steam on the top end.
Which now brings me to the present.......

The Red has been removed and sold and in it's place will be an FP Black. I am expecting the Black to arrive next week in which I will promptly ship it to my good friend Anthony at JUDGE RACING for their top notch porting on the exhaust housing. I will update this thread frequently during the progress of putting together the combination I plan to achieve this final factory motor goal with. Go

I'm estimating it's going to take 137mph give or take 0.5mph to break the 9.9second barrier. Should be very close.

very nice brother! the evo got you still wanting more and i am very happy to see that you are pushing that baby hard and not giving up on it! GL and we will be watching and cheering you on via internet
Why didnt you just keep your old ported housing and give the new unported housing with the used red turbo? That could have saved downtime and $$ plus the Red's new owner would have a NEW turbine housing. Good Luck with breaking the 9sec barrier. Should e awesome to see.
