Question about Blitz SUS Intake

Hi all, I just installed a Blitz SUS on my car and was worried that I might have done it wrong. I do like this filter a lot though, it may be subjective, but I feel it spools faster and can hold the top end better. It also sounds nicer.

That aside, my problem is that when I am accelerating, I can hear the familiar (albeit louder) metallic sucking noise but when I let off the pedal, there is a 'koosh' like noise. I was wondering if this is something that this filter does or I have a leak somewhere, because the stock airbox never did this.

My whole car is practically stock, there is an exhaust which someone else did for me, a Cusco exhaust manifold shield and a HKS EVC but thats about it really. Please let me know if I screwed up on the install, I am still new to this...

adding a cone style filter will increase the audible noise from the turbo. the "koosh" sound (interesting, never heard of it being described that way before), is your (i assume factory) diverter valve releasing pressure from your uicp.

Thanks BenJ, am I correct in assuming that the diverter valve lets pressure from the UICP into the pre-turbo intake piping, and that air goes back out through the filter resulting in the 'koosh' sound?

correct, the air is discharged back into the intake pipe.

Ah, that makes sense now. I was wondering what that little rubber valve was doing at the bottom of the original airbox. At first I figured it may be to let particles or water out. But it makes sense that it is probably some form of exhaust for the air from the diverter valve.

Thanks BenJ!
