What do you mean by "...the fluid didn't last very long...?" It was noticeably notchy and time to change or something else indicated that it had run its course? Did you get anything analyzed to ensure your thoughts were correct?

by no mean that im saying the castrol syntorq sell by milspec is bad. it's one of the best fluid i used for my tranny. So far it's the smoothest to shift with my MR tranny. but after 11-12k the tranny tend to get difficult to shift into gear when it cold. when i first change it, the tranny goes into gear and have no notchiness. I would definitely use it again thought! thinking of buying another 3 qts for my next tranny change. =).

I just put in Amsoil MTG in my 5 speed. When cold trying to get it into any gear is nearly impossible. I'm going back to stock since I believe it preforms the best.

I recommend Redline for the 5-speed transmissions, but for the 6-speed the Castrol stuff that Mil.Spec sells is my choice.

Try Redline next, it worked great for me even in -15F temps during Minnesota winters.

im running AMSOIL MTG in my 6spd here in WA, and its been the best thing SO FAR. ive tried OEM, REDLINE MT90 (bad mistake), and now AMSOIL. shifting is really smooth, and only slightly notchy on cold mornings for first couple miles in 1st-2-3rd. Other than that its great!

Personally, I am a little neurotic...so I tend to change the Castrol stuff every 10k to 12k. I agree, it seems to perform a little less perfect from 12k to 15k (15k being the recommended OEM change).

However, having to change the fluid to get that "perfect" feeling 3k before the recommended fluid interval is WAY BETTER than dealing with the crap notchy feeling the OEM fill gives you.

Have you had experience with AMSOIL in an MR 6 speed transmission?
