redline or Amsoil for 6 speed MR tranny?
+1 ive been the happiest with the AMSOIL MTG fluid in my MR 6spd trans.
its far better than the OEM diaqeen and the Redline MT90.
apagan01 what would you recommend for the transfer case?? severe gear??

That wasn't a knock on AMSOIL, it was a comment regarding someone saying a particular fluid was a good choice when their signature says they own an '03 Evo with a 5 speed.
That's good that customers have had good experience with AMSOIL in their 6 speed. However, I don't think AMSOIL offers a 75W-85 exact equivalent to the Super DiaQueen.

i reccomend SVG 75W90 wich is what all evom is using,,,,, if you are doing heavy driving with heavy power then SVG 75W110 would be the ticket
I've been using the 75w90 in my 6 speed. Notchy going into 2nd when it is cold, but is really smooth once it is warmed up a little. The stock OEM was notchy going into 2nd as well. I also change the fluid every couple thousand miles due to road racing it, so no clue on how long it lasts.
So normal shifting my 6sp is smooth as butter but shifting fast at higher rpms I always get some grind in 2nd. Can tranny fluid help this? I had the first manual tranny fluid change at 28k (bought car used) but I'm going to change every 12k going forward. Last change was done at dealership so I think it was diaqueen, felt great at first but the grind came back. Suggestions?
I have been using the AMSOil for about 15000 miles and love it, it is a bit notchy in sub freezing temps for like 5min on startup, but I had the same prob with the OEM and the OEM would grind at high rpm shifts even warmed up, dont have that problem with the AMSOil. I won't use anything else.

Im about to change my drivetrain fluids soon, leaning toward using Redline. I have a 5sp transmission.
I just dont know which combo should I use...
2 quarts of MTL and 1 quarts of MT-90 - Transmission
1 quart anti-shock - Center Differential
1 quart of 75W90 - Rear Differential
Or
3 quarts of MT-90 - Transmission
1 quart anti-shock - Center Differential
1 quart of 75W90 - Rear Differential

I've tried Diaqueen, Amsoil MTG, and Amsoil SVG in my MR gearbox. Still have 1st->2nd slight grind with all of these. Its been a while since I've run the Diaqueen, but my recollection is that the MTG gave a bit better shifting performance. The SVG gives about the same 1st->2nd shifting performance as the MTG, maybe a tad bit worse. Haven't tried the Castrol... perhaps I'll try it for the next gearbox change, but with Amsoil's great reputation for wear resistance, I'm tempted to say that I'll sacrifice some 1st->2nd gear performance in exchange for an oil that has the best gear teeth protection.
