smell of rotten eggs from motor
if you smell it from the engine bay, its the cat and you may have an exhaust leak. i remember that smell distinctively when i first broke in a highflow cat. burning clutches dont smell like eggs, more like a burning metal smell....
I suggest that a fuel pump as an only mod on an EVO that already runs rich from the factory, equals your car running VERY rich and the cat is now toast. I suggest swapping in a test pipe from one of your peeps and see if the rotten egg smell goes away.
my clutch seems very strong no slipping or anything so far but yet i dont know ..
it smells like a strong egg smell and continues on for like 2 mins after the pull, my gf said she could smell it when she was behind me a mile away!

Rotten egg smell = sulfur dioxide, a result of the suffer compounds in the exhaust not fully catalized. Check AFRs, if the new pump is bumping up your fuel pressure and making the injectors flow a bit more than your car is mapped for, this could be it. Most likely getting a new cat will fix it, if it's just the smell that bugs you, but I would want to know if it was too rich myself. It could also not be hot enough, cold start, really cold weather etc.
Yes,I think it is a cat under high load. Not really a big deal, just check your AFR before it gets too bad, worst case senario is you cat gets clogged and you loose power while driving.
Just to let you know, my cat smells like that when I pull a hill hard.
No big deal to me as it is still the original....
