Evo X SST transmission swap into EVo VIII/IX?

Has anyone heard, read or seen someone who has done this? Is it even possible to do that type of swap and is it even cost effective if it is possible?

im gonna say no. the harness is different, the ecu is different, itd be a mess, and it might not even bolt up. just get a sequential if your looking for something different

i would doubt this is possible at all. It would most likely be cheaper to buy a X.

Agreed. This swap would require a ton of custom fabrication and all new programming for the SST since it works in conjunction with the Evo X ECU and drive-by-wire systems. I'll venture out and say its an impossible swap for 99.9999% of people.

The SST has its advantages, however doing this would be ridiculous unless 1) you have an unlimited budget and 2) you are very experienced at custom engine fabrication work. If you really want a car that has the power of your IX with a sequential, just buy an X and mod the **** out of it. With a different motor to bolt to, different ECU to talk to, different harness to hook up to, you are looking at more problems than anyone could count. Who even knows if it would fit in the same spot as a transmission for the 4G63.

Maybe your friend was talking about the MAP SST stockframe turbo?

The other transmission option on the X is the 5-speed. So, I was thinking that they could have made the transmission mounting points on the new engine the same as on the 4g63 in order to avoid having to come up with a new transmission case. Anyone know?
