Clutch installation writeup?

Does anyone have a detailed writeup of installing an aftermarket clutch in our cars? My mechanic said he'll do it for me, but since he doesn't have any documented software on the evolutions, he can't give me a time estimate on how long it will take. He said if I have instructions it should only take him about 3-4 hours to do. So if anyone has any evo8 clutch installs documented, i would greatly appreciate it

why do you say fantasy? 3-4 hours? I did mine (with the help of a cooworker) in exactly 3 hours and 20 minutes. Next time I'll do it in 3 hours flat. So yes it is possible

superz, if possible, would you be able to give me a writeup (brief or detailed, whatever you can would be appreciated) for the clutch install?

You have to take his posts with a couple of the proverbial grains, he's right up there in terms of the nature of his posts. You gotta wonder if they are as cynical and holier than thou in real life, or just here.

You seem to have misunderstood; I was answering your question about why regarding ItsNotStockOfficer. Every thread I read he posts in he is always making some derogatory comment about Evo owners etc. Everyone is so up tight here, you don't have to justify anything to me.

So do you have a write up on it or not?
I'm interested in this as well, because when it comes time to up- grade the clutch, I'm not payin someone $600 to screw something up.

I'm assuming its a pretty straight foward job, with the exception of the slid hammer use. ANy tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

So for christ's sake be a hero and post it up!!! I find it strange that there have been a few people who claim to have done these in half the time of Buschur, yet will post no "how to" on the matter... I'm not calling bull****; I'm saying share the wealth. I’ll be happy to do so when my clutch goes… problem is who knows when mine will let go. I have a bad habit of making clutches last under power they shouldn’t.

8-14 hours for a mechanic who hasn't done the clutch install before. Having talked to 4 different shops, all of which have race mechanics and have changed Evo's... 3 hours is a lie.

I'm not going to go that far... we used to knock out GSX clutch jobs in 2 to 2.5 hrs... It's the little tricks one comes up with after becoming familiar with a procedure that really cuts down on time. I just want the man, or anyone else for that matter, to post a detailed write up of the shortest point from A to Z. Since EVERYONE (well not really) is complaining about the Evo VIII clutch's short life span, you would think the "how to clutch install" write up would be the holy grail of how to's for this board.
