Black vs 6262

I have a 6262 but was reading alot on the black and it seems it can get me to my goal of 600whp. What would be the pros and cons of going black or 6262? Heres my build

Block: 2.4l
(everything was balanced)
-9:1 wiseco pistons
-Mahal rods
-arp main/head/rod
-stock 4g64 crank
-acl bearings rod/main/thrust

Head: (getting)
-Kelford 272's
-beehive springs
-2mm oversized valves
-Intake Manifold ported

if you want 600 stay with the 6262 no questions asked, dont relie on the black to make that much power. if you wanted 550 MAYBE you could look at the black but it still would be a crappier choice.

wow dont know who told you that a black will get you 600 there are a couple of shops and people that have done it and there is one guy with a 2.4 that is like 582 something like that. he is not even fully tuned the fp black is a great monster turbo for what it is. a 6262 is not bad either.

6262 way more power potential

Be generating a lot of heat and obviously quite a bit more boost getting that Black there and I'd question how long it last at that power level

The 6262 can make 600awhp with around 30psi of boost if not a bit less on pumpgas... Something that you can drive every day...

The Black in order to make such power needs racegas and way more than 30psi to make that power...
The 6262 under the same circumstances can make much more...
Size matters!

And since you are 2.4 lag will not be bad too!

The highest FP Black that i have seen is 670whp on a 11:1 luminum rod motor on E98 spiking 41 psi of boost, electric water pump, cnc head, COP, etc...

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-fp-black.html

On the same motor the 6262 would probably see another 100-130whp!

Stay with the 6262 you'll get a bit better spool with the black but miss that power you had when your 6262 really woke up! Your choice but I think you have the better of the two turbos already. Good luck with your choice.

6262 hands down. plenty of 600+whp evos out there with it. cheaper than a black with more power and a bit more lag but more top end power as well. its the turbo i want to go with. i had a buddy with a standard gt3586r prelude dual ball bearing hit full boost at 4600rpm, and another buddy with a top mount 6262 prelude journal bearing hit full boost around the same rpm. im sure with your 2.4l it wount lag as bad and would feel great

600whp is close to the max of the fp black w/ all the bells and whistles, same scenario w/ the 6262 well lets just say it's just getting warmed up!
