Forward facing question?

I have seen quite a few kits out there and I am curious why none of them implement a stock location downpipe. It seems as if it would be very cost efficient if one was made where it could just bolt up to an existing downpipe instead of making a complete new one. I am not a fabricator, so I cannot say for certain that there is room, but it certainly looks possible.

It doesn't work that way. The turbo faces a completely different direction. The bends in the exhaust piping need to be different. Also, most forward facing kits move the turbo forward some too, which allows for a little more room to work with on the exhaust.

The location the turbo doesnt allow the stock downpipe to bolt up.. If your going to do a proper FF turbo kit might as well not skimp on a couple hundred dollar piece to the kit.. You can always sell your stock downpipe..

+1^ to add to JakeTheVIII's comment, there has been some fabrication R&D with the header that would move the runners slightly higher, to give room for an adaptor to hook up with the downpipe's stock location and foward facing unit. considering that seems expensive though in the end. A forward facing O2 with downpipe or combo, would probably still be less expensive than a fabricated piece/adaptor to connect to stock downpipe; and don't forget the new header that would most likely be necessary.... just my 2 cents.. but I could see it being possible..

My thoughts are the piping has to go in about the same position as the standard downpipe. That is why I suspected it could just be fabbed to work with a stock location d/p. I like the ease of the black, but I would rather have 30 psi through a t3 framed turbo making 6xx ish that 40 psi though a Black. Just personal thoughts on that. Do not want to start an airflow vs pressure disscussion. I know it is not much more for a whole downpipe as opposed to just an O2 housing of sorts. I am going to be pushing my stock turbo to the max before I switch to a bigger turbo anyways. If I can't get the stock turbo into the mid 11's then there is no point in having a big turbo that I won't be able to drive worth a damn. At least with a stock turbo I can blame it!

I've tried... not really possible unless you have some really cheated section cut o2 piece, which at that point could cause more backpressure.
