Coolant issue Coolant leaks from Rad cap?

Hey guys I just recently had the evo tuned last week Im runngin the xs power radiator and recently when I get on the car coolant pours out from around the cap. Car isnt overheating and I can still drive normal without it coming out as much. Is the ****ty cap that came with it going bad? I just ordered a new greddy 1.3 bar for it.

Do you guys just think its the cap?

Yeah, sounds like under normal load its fine but then when we you get on it it can't handle the pressure & leaks...you would like it would leak all the time though...oh well...

How did you test for lower temps?

Lol^^^^^^^^^^^

Check the seal on the old cap and see what the condition is on the rubber seal , make sure that the heater core isn't clogged , (Heater working good? )
and Thermostat.

Also do this only on a cold start but take the cap off , turn the car on and watch the water while it is idling , let it warm up a little and give the motor a couple of revs . (Lower Rpm )
I have heard of something like this from having a bad seal on the head gasket .
I would think the reason it comes out more under Wot is because of the heat rising under pressure .

heat works great. thermostat would be my next guess.. im going to put the new cap on see if that fixes anything. If not Ill replace the head gasket if thats the issue.

if it was your head gasket you would have a few symptoms:
1. smoking
2. oil coolant mixing
3. over heating
4. possible compression loss

if your car seems fine its most likelyy your radiator cap thats not holding the pressure. also if you were to have a bad water pump you'd be over heating. you can check the weep hole for leaking coolant. if its not leaking chances are your water pump is still good.

It sounds like the radiator cap. Had the same issue a while back. Why not start with the cheapest first and take it from there? Get a new cap and see if thats the problem if not then diagnose some more. Good luck. Let us know ur fix.

it was the rad cap fixed it but I still smell coolant burning and my res was almost empty the other day and i started going up real high in temps when idling I think it the headgasket checked the thermo and it works fine. Im going 2.4 motor built so this issue is gonna go away lol.

well before u go built motor? does oil look like its in the coolant reservoir or does the oil look milky? id say do a pressure test on the radiator with coolant in the system with the car off of course....and see i traced a slow coolant leak on my car turned out entank on top was leakin at the plastic....good luck

Nah the coolant has no oil in it. Im do for an oil change But with all this snow I wont get around to it til this weekend probally depends. Im going to do a pressure test. Either way its getting 2.4 built motor and built head. The radiator will be replaced so theres no chances anywhere.
