Evo injectors vs DSM injectors

Ok - Now I know an evo injector will always work on a DSM.

But will a DSM injector always work in an evo 8/9?

I was just informed that FIC makes separate injectors for the two platforms. And that the DSM variant has a "centering" piece on the tip and the evo does not.

Has any one ever heard of this?

Apparently it is only a problem in stock manifolds too - because most smim have the provision for either injector to fit.

I just never heard of this before and wanted some input.

That's interesting, I would have thought they would be interchangable either way. Anybody know the answer to this?

Got me, great question. It would seem they are either interchangeable or not, maybe there is more to it.

FIC lists two separate part numbers.

No one answered when I called today.

Blah.

That is correct...

The evo injector goes into the dsm with no modification but the dsm injector requires the tip to be ground down before it will fit.

this was the info i got from Jens @ FIC a long time ago.

yes you could

now that i think about it the evo ones still have a slight taper/bell at the end but not as big as the dsm ones......

- its been a while since i have had that style injector, been running the bosch injectors for almost a year and my brain only retains so much info before i have to send stuff to the recycling bin.

Here is a pic of the evo injector.......these are 850/880
