groden rods or tuff rods

Ok so heres my question. Well im about to buy a motor built my Buschur and AWD to support my 6262 turbo thats going to be going in . The only problem is that groden rods were used to support the 1000hp the customer wanted. So i did some research and found out the Groden rods wont last very long with daily driving. So i realize i may have to go with tuff rods but i dont want to pay the $500 bucks to tear down the motor to swap them. I mean I own a srt-4 thats my dd so the evo will be driven maybe 3 or 4 times a week. I just dont want to have to tear down my motor again in a couple of months. Anything would be helpful because this may make or break a really good deal. Thanks

I would look at it this way...Use whats in it for now and when it needs done again then spend the money to put the Manleys in.

U said ur about to buy...dont buy it. are u talking about n33d4sp33d's motor? i didnt buy this motor off of him because of those rods. they will last a while but the type of driving you do its not worth it. also consider other rod options besides the manley's. i just brought my motor to headway performance getting built with howards rods (that are going to need a slight modification). ill let you know once my build is done how they work out.

I dunno there is a fair amount of people that have DD on Alum rods.....I personally went with 300m Manley's because Alum Rods made me uneasy....Thing is when you have the motor in its gonna bug you like crazy that you're running the Groden rods, so i would suggest no buying the motor, or switching to the steel rods....for your own sanity.

For a daily driver i would run the Manleys.. We have them in our 2.4L right now and they take a nice beating..

Aluminum rods in and of themselves arent bad to daily. Grodens have proven themselves to have a short lifespan over the long run compared to something like R&Rs. High horsepower steel rod motors seem to have bearing issues. Take your pick on what set of issues you want and deal with it from there. Anything over 650whp is alot both on the street and out of a 2.0l anyway.

Just because it has the best parts never makes them indestructible, plan on failure if you push a car to the edge or past. You can always build a motor to last as long as possible but I have yet to see one wear out from old age. I am not saying its the motor, but it seems when we push the envelope something pushes back sooner or later.

The R&R & GRP rods are proving to be better than the Grodens for sure lifespan wise.. I let HP dictate which we like to use in most cases but RPM is the real deciding factor honestly..

^^^werd. I think the bearings see issues because of harmonics. RPM, cylinder pressure, rod material, balance (lack of since most motors dont have balance shafts) all play their part. We dont usually recommend aluminum till we start getting in the 700whp range and 550+ torque.

Hmmm thats alot to think about . Im totally rethinking this whole build . I just bought a exedy triple and john shep has my tranny so i would have been set there. Well I guess i could just go back to pump gas with my 6262 and be around 550hp and call it a day. Ahhhhh this sucks
