Noise backing up.

Need info. I've been getting a creaking sound when I pull out of my garage. It happens as I'm turning the steering wheel and letting out the clutch. It just started about a couple of weeks ago. My car has 11,000 miles. It seems to only do it in the mornings. Does anyone know what this is?????

is it a "creak" or a whine? Mine has a funny "whine" in reverse but only at a certian spot in the clutch pedals travel. Only does it when Im "slipping" the clutch in reverse to get the car going.....

record it if you can, that might help... Or just take it to the dealer and mention it to them.

i think

a whinning sound is normal, just the reverse gears making noise

and the creaking could be smoething stupid like you tires rubbing since you are probably reversing slowly out of the garage or it could be serious, have some one else reverse the car out and listen where its coming from.

that what i think but sometime i think stupidly

I get a driveline "clunk" when I back out of the garage in the morning. It sounds like the driveshaft is breaking loose from being stuck somehow. anybody know\?

I've had some odd noises from the rotors rusting over night. They like to pop when breaking lose then grind a little bit until all the oxidation has been removed from the pads.

It's doesn't sound like a whining noise, it's more like a loud metalic rubbing. Thanks for the help, I'm going to try to take it in this week. Just want to make sure it's not something serious.

That sounds just like rusty rotors. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah when your car sits still with the emergency brake on for a while. When you let the brake down and start to back up, it makes a loud clunk sound like it's breaking loose...

Sometimes in the mornings, as I'm backing out of my driveway.. As I let the clutch out and start turning the wheel, I hear a clink sound, as if something is loose in the tranny... I spoke to a close friend of mine that was a head tech at Mits, then he opened his own business.. (In other words, I trust him a lot) He said it's normal for these trannys.. He's been around EVO's for a long time now.. From Jamaica... So, the "clink" is normal...

Sometimes I get a clunk sound when I get to the end of the driveway in the morning backing out while turning the wheel. I tdefinitely isn't the rotors, because I have already backed the car up 50ft. I don't ever use the emergency brake for parking for that reason. Always use 1st gear.

I've heard some other cars that test the ABS system as you begin to move. Usually happens the first time you hit the brakes after starting the car. Sometimes it makes a clunking noise. But like I said this was on other cars.

Do you park overnight with your ebrake on? If yes, try parking with the car in 1st instead. See if you hear the sound tomorrow morning.

I think you are hearing the rear caliper break free from the oxidation then drag over the remainder of the oxidized rotor.

That could be it, I always park with the E- Brake on. For the past four days it hasn't been doing it???? I hope it's just that.
