Fp black or ETS kit

What's up guys I have been at a crossroads for about two weeks now on this subject.
I'm ready to buy my new turbo setup and don't know what to go with... I want to keep it under 3k and make good power on stock block until I go built next year and then turn it up for big power.

Trying to hit 10's on stock block this year. Running e 85.
Thanks Joshua

If you are looking to upgrade in the future, then why not purchase a T3 now, then just go with a larger turbo after bottom end and head are built. You will most likely have to port everything in order to get to your goals anyway. IMHO of course. ETS is a gret company and their kits are top notch. Either way, good luck..

So far to me the Black seems like a bad *** turbo, I will be going with it myself this season. There has already been charts out there on this turbo and it seems impressive. What are your other supporting mods because the Black alone cost over 2 grand.

The question really comes down to do you have supporting mods? If you don't have an upgraded downpipe, o2 housing, lower pipe, possible manifold, intake, etc. The black is going to turn out to be an expensive upgrade. Since your an 8, you will also need to buy the 9 install kit which costs another $200-$250.00 depending on the options.

After adding the costs up you are pretty close to a turbo kit. I think the turbo kit is a better option as far as upgrades go. The turbo kit gives you the ability to make the same power at lower boost levels. The problem with the stock frame turbo is you have to run 30-40 psi to make the power you see posted by some of the vendors. You will also need to have a built motor.

The difference between a stock frame turbo and T3 frame turbo is night and day difference on the top end. The T3 frame turbo will pull all the way past red line where the stock frame will make peak power and start to taper towards the end.

It's all about goals though, if your looking for a mild setup the bolt on may get you where you need to be, but if you want flexibility I think we can build you a T3 kit that fits your needs

Remember the FP bolt on turbos are all Journal bearing, so when comparing it to a turbo kit make sure it's journal bearing vs journal bearing My money is on the PT5857 turbo kit in journal bearing form.

Any other questions, let me know!

thanks,

Michael

^+1 there you go.. ETS FTMFW.. And if you haven't heard from me yet Michael, my 5857BB is friggin bad-@$s. Still waiting on a couple of internals to be coated, and then its going together, but the workmanship of the kit is outstanding.

It goes both ways to me. The ETS kit can be configured to make as much power as you can dream of. The Black is locked in. Sure the Black goes on easier, but you'll have most of that off the car when you are doing a full turbo kit.

We make 580-600whp on 92 octane and no meth with ETS turbo kits (3586 specifically for those power levels). Cant do that with a Black. Spend the money once and do it right, but the normal turbo kit definitely gives you more options. When 10s get boring, a Black is going to be harder pressed to go faster without making some sacrifices in the car. OR...throw on a larger turbo or boost or...with the ETS kit.
