shifter acting funny.

so i parked the car last night with absolutley nothing that seemed funny then this morning when i left for work it seemed as though 1st of all that it was hard to get it OVER to R. not really hard to get into R but literally hard to move it OVER to the right. then i notice that when i push it to the left its not as hard(but still harder than usual) and it will stay there if i let go of it. as in it wont kick back to the center position of N. same thing while driving. wont glide up into 3rd from second i literally have to make a Z pattern to get it up there. same thing into 5th.

cables look normal. no short shifter or anything. i DO have solid under hood bushing. and my tranny is buschwacker with about 9k on her. just weird to me that it didnt happen while driving but when it was just like that when i got in it this morning. any thoughts?

i had the same thing happen, one of the cables streched and it was actually holding the lever over to the left.

one of my solid shifter cable bushings was froze up. i just got it out, oiled it up, and that fixed it.

If you have solid underhood bushings try taking them off and use some white lithium grease on them. It may just be that they are binding up.

Grease it!

Edit: NM, looks like you already figured it out.

Thanks all this will make my weekend work slightly less clueless!!!

I think all that playing in the "SNOPPOCOLYPSE 2010" and years of rallycrossing has caught up to those little bushings. I will grease them up and see!

happened to me as well. When I installed the underhood bushings, one of them had the c-clip in a funky position. THis c aused it to periodically seize up. I pulled it out and fixed the c-clip and every one in a while I shoot some wd 40 on them.
