Max TQ on Exedy Twin HD

I was wondering what the max TQ is for the Exedy Twin HD before the clutch starts to slip? Thanks for your input

It's rated at 535ft lbs. I'm going to assume that's at the crank, so even less to the wheels.

I have been at the 475hp/400tq barrier for around 8-10 thousand miles and I am still on the same Exedy Twin HD, it is still holding incredibly strong. No launches, however, so I can't attest to how long it can hold that level after some serious drag use.

Good luck.

I don't really launch my car so hopefully that will allow this clutch to work for me. I don't want to jump straight to a triple when I upgrade.

I am going to be upgrading my twin HD to a triple as well. I am going to the black from the Red and want to take preventative measures. We have great pricing on the clutch upgrade kit. PM me if anyone is interested!

blkcarbon from what ive read the twins start slipping around 430ft lbs and around 130mph stm has said that they had some do fine on the dyno then go right to the track and they slip so find a used twin and upgrade the prices i recieved from a vendor to upgrade to a tripple

Triple clutch hub 1 $0.00 $168.98

REPAIR PART MULTI 3 $0.00 $565.50

Intermediate Plate - Multiple Applications 2 $0.00 $224.28

For tripledisc you need hub, 3 discs and 2 plates above.

Im in the same boat as you now! I made a thread to see if anyones trapping in the 130s with one. A few said theyve seen the twin HD's hold well, then a few said I may just be better off doing the triple disc and saving myself the trouble of having to pull the trans out a week after installing it. Im on the fence.

So far Big Valley has the best deal at $810 shipped for the kit. I'm checking with other vendors to see if any can beat them but I haven't found one yet. PM tonyatbvp (3 disks, two plates, hub).

Also just in case anyone cares the only difference from the SD to the HD is the clutch cover which is listed at roughly $200 and includes new bolts and a new clip. Every other part is the same.

The triple uses the same flywheel, pressure plate, cover, and clip as the twin.

^ I would go triple. The Twin I believe should hold up on the street ok at out tq level but the track is a different story. The Twin can't take all the heat from the launches and will slip and depending on how high you are revving may have lockout problems.
