Opinions on Fuel rail/AMS Feed line...

I am at 420hp on the red, and I have been contemplating upgrading the stock fuel rail to and Aeromotive unit, as well as replacing the stock feed line to an AMS unit.

Do I actually need to do this is the question... The money isn't the issue, what I have is doing the job, but will these new parts help me do the job more efficiently, or will they just be a waste of time/money?

Based on whp+red, it sounds like you are running pump gas. I think the stock rail is fine for that. For E85, there is one good indication from some tuning done by GST that after crossing 400 MD whp, a fuel rail is needed for uniform fuel pressure distribution to all the injectors.

BTW, the best rail out there is the Indy Evo unit.

Thanks Mychailo, looks like I will just do the fuel pump rewire until E85 becomes available here in Jacksonville

Correct me if Im wrong, but im 99.99999% sure Ive seen 600-700+whp evos on the stock fuel rail and lines having 0 problems at all.

I've always felt like the fuel rails were more just around to help look good in the engine bay.

Fast_Freddie-

What does the fuel pump re-wire do? Will you be using the kit STM has? Do you have a single Walbro 255?

I just bought an Aeromotive fuel rail along with the AMS replacement fuel line. I bought the line because I am removing the balance shafts and I didn't want the hard line to break. I bought the rail because I can use the stock connectors along with AN lines in the future and I thought the rail looked nice.

not entirely true. A good quality Fuel rail with legitamate R&D will have better fuel distribution as alluded to in a few posts above. That being said, I believe that there is a large number of people who make the purchase unwarranted on the bases of looks and that at the levels that the majority of users run their vehicles at an upgraded fuel rail is not really needed and the gains will not be seen until higher boost levels and/or E85.

It helps keep steady voltage to the fuel pump, the stock wires are pretty tiny and usually a voltage drop is seen at the pump due to this.

I will most likely put together my own kit.

Yes single walbro 255

Yes I would agree with you on the E85 part and high boost (meaning 40+psi on turbos that flow massive amounts of air) However, seeing as most people generally run between 30-36psi in their cars even on a decent sized T3 turbo, Im sure the gain is minimal at best between the stock fuel vs an aftermarket rail if there are cars making over 600whp without fueling problems with the stock fuel lines and rail in the car.

At 420whp, stock fuel system is more than sufficient, aside from a walbro 255 being a good thing for obvious reasons.
