BBK Full comp upgrade

Whilst browsing over the FP web site i noticed they do a compressor cover upgrade for the BBK Full?

http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...e=Lancer-Turbo

Has anybody installed one to there BBK turbo yet?

If so are there any part throttle advantages or is this just to run a 4" inlet pipe.

its to run an 84mm inlet. There's really no need since the BBK doesn't really surge! If you were to run a BBK on a 2.4L and bog it a lot in traffic in top gear, maaayyyybe this would be worthwhile...otherwise meh! Kinda looks cool though.

All this FP Black talk had me straying onto the FP web site & being the magpie i saw the cast comp cover & thought that looks pretty cool . I'm running an APS cold air feed so i suppose it wont make much improvement only worth it if you want a 4" intake like this.

I wonder if the New BBK-B will use an anti surge comp housing as it will have bigger wheels.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any testing to be honest. If it's going to be paired with the CBRD turbo, you'd think there was data somewhere. Spill the beans!

If the BBK isn't surging then there is no point. If anything, you'd lose power.

these were offered to us by FP, I was not interested, although the quality looks nice,

Robert said he was going to sell them himself, so he did

we have no documented issues with surge.... even on the 2.3's we have done, and what GST has done, etc....

cheers

surge slot aside, would the bigger comp housing make any extra power? don't the 80mm reds seem to be making more than the older ones?

we've never seen an increase in power from the anti surge ports because of the less aero based inlet,

Robert may have found different results...

would be kinda messed up because an unsuspecting customer buying a used turbo could be buying an older or lower model turbo with an upgraded cover that says "red"

It's a nice solution for a non-existent problem.
