FP 4R cams and a stock turbo

Hey everyone, I'm curious if anyone running FP 4R cams on a stock Evo IX turbo and pump? In all the searches I cannot find any dyno sheets where someone is on pump and a stock turbo.

I know everyone will say go with Kelfords or S2, but I don't want to do a valve spring upgrade with the head still on the car, so for the next year or two I want to run stock springs. S1 are a bit too mild and I think FP 4Rs are my only other option. I will not run Kelfords or S2s with stock springs since the manufacturers do not recommend it.

So with all the basic bolt-ons (TBE, o2 housing, injectors, full IC with pipes, ported mani, hotside, etc) I'm curious what I should expect with the FP 4R.

Any help would be great

Hate to break it to you but I think the 4R's require valvetrain work. You are already in there, why not do the valvesprings? I'm not understanding why you dont want to do valvetrain with the head on the car....you do realize all of that stuff is accessible right under the valve cover right? headstuds are the ones that to do properly would require head removal. I think you might be getting them crossed up...

I ran the fp4r cams and FP behive springs in my car with both the stock turbo and the 35r.

Stock turbo car went 11.2@123ish running way out of gear with the stock evo9 trans.

Good cams, I am running fp5rs in the new build.

You don't really need springs if you are shifting at 7K.

You can get the FP cams and beehive springs for about the same price as just the cams if you go with S2 or Kelfords.

I've got the Comp 280+ cams and was told by a reliable source that they are very similar on the lobe profile to the FP4R cams. Huge mid range, a little lacking on top end. A very good fit to the stock IX turbo though. On a larger turbo, they may respond better on the top end too.

I thought the FP cams were the most exspensive out of all of them

Kracka is running 4R's on stock springs and stock turbo. Probably the best cams to get for an IX IMHO. He picked up like 300rpm of spool and his car makes power all over the place. DoughtCom has them also, but on aftermarket springs. Both on pump gas and stock turbo, great great combo.

Off topic, but personally, I would do a turbo upgrade on an IX before I did cams. That's another topic alltogether

Hate to break it to you, but you think wrong. FP says the 4R's are fine on the stock springs to 8k RPM. This is even right on their website so I have no idea why you're posting bad info.

Its not bad info per se, informed opinion might be better verbage. Yes it does say that but the fact remains it will decrease the stock springs lifespan because of the increased duration and lift. Good thing FP sells them
