starter problem

starter problem

I'm having some problem with my evo 8 mr's starter and i was wondering if a regular lancer starter will work? dumb question i know but the placeI'm gonna order from says its fits any 03-05 lancer including the mr's. so i just wanna make sure. any comments will help.

you could find a good used starter in the 4 sale section. for fast answer, call your local dealer or auto parts store

I would go into the part out section and find someone with a whole car. If they arn't parting out the whole car chances are they are gonna hang onto the starter. Its odd yours went bad, generally they extremely reliable because they have a pretty easy life being on a low compression 4 cylinder. Are you sure thats your issue? I would take it to advance autoparts and have them test it

yea im pretty sure ive had my friends take a look at and they think its that. also the cars got 97xxx miles on it so they i think that might be a factor also.

Solenoid probably wore out from all the heat of the downpipe. New ones run like 180-200 bucks.
If you can count on the forsale forums for a low mileage one then that would be the cheaper route.

is this connected to the starter or a completely different piece?

its connected to the starter mine was pretty bad. the heat created by the down pipe tarnished it
