The thing is though my tires have been spining the last few launches i have done. Has this happened to a lot of people? And has the dealer taken car of any of the cars?

what about a tranny specialist? Couldn't they tear into the transfer case and build it up?

Since they have the RS coming into the US, try getting its front LSD from somewhere. I am sure you can find it. PLease document the install for the rest of us!!!

I lost my transfer case a short time after I had a new twim disc clutch installed. The transfer case failed best iI can tell because the company that installed my clutch tried to line up all the shafts without removing them from the transfer case. the splines on the shaft that goes insided the tranfer case showed damage frm being hammered into place. It appears small chips of metal from this procedure failed one of the bearings. the ring and pinion started singing a song. Of course this is not Mitsu's to cover, but I am having words with the company that did the clutch install. Perhaps you had a similar failure ( contamination in a very clean enviroment). Did you do your clutch install?

It also sounds like there is an axle broken..... there is a clicking noise when its driven. Anyone know how much this will amount to in price with the parts and labor?

You broke your front diff. there is no doubt about it. Dealer will charge you between 2200-2600 bucks to fix it.

it has to be with something in the way of how ppl launch their cars.
i have a hks twin disc system.i launch @ like 6300rpms and slip the clutch.i race every weekend..and even during the week,i may pull up to a traffic light and decide to burn some tyres.and yet...i have had nothing go wrong with my drivetrain.
but there are other guys down here who are running stock clutch setups, and race much less than i do, and they destroy their transfer cases and diff's.
i know this doesnt help u with ur problem..but i'm just trying to figure out what causes the problem in the first place.so, i conclude that it's all in the driving.

As some other people mentioned, your stiffer clutch put more stress on the front diff and, little guy didn't like it.

One thing to have in mind is that has a tendency to shim their trainies (I guess, that includes the transfer case in the EVO case too) a bit loose and when exposed to the more abuse they break. It would be a smart thing to check how loose/tight is your center and front diff to prevent additional breakages. But is not an easy task as replace the spark plugs (except if you are driving an STi), so be your own judge!

Have fun!

Transfer case failure

After tearing the transfer case apart I found that one of the bearings that the pinion shaft is carried by had failed. The race was pitted and well into failure. Was this caused by a.the guys that installed my clutch chipping a small amount of metal lining up the shaft splines (which they did) or b. the same guys told me they captured the oil out of the transfer case and put it back in (if so did they contaminate it or underfill it) I am going with b. iI think it is impossible for them to have caught all the oil, kept it clean and put it back in. I think the bearing was under lubricated. It started to fail and the ring and pinion started having each other for dinner. I don't think hard launches caused this. I think it would have been a more catostrophic failure. It was bad on the bank account, I know that much.

Front diff is in the transaxle with the tranny?
and Transfer case is the center diff??

The transfer case is a seperate unit that bolts to the transmission. It is your final drive unit that holds the ring and pinion. It contains its own oil seperate from the tranny.
