Angry Notchy Shifter Feel?

my Evo has an extremely uncooperative shifter. Doesn't want to go into gear half the time without force. I either have to make granny slow shifts waiting for the rpms to drop almost to idle. or i have to force it in. which results in what i think sounds like a grind and a thump. i cannot tell if this noize is coming from the tranny or the shifter itself

I already change the driveline fluids this past weekend to redline MT-90 in the tranny and 75w-90 in the diff and transfer. but i still have the exact same feel.

I have heard others saying that replacing the rubber bushings in the shifter makes a world of difference. I am just curious what everybody's input is on this....

Do you have a notchy shifter????

How did you fix it??????

I thihk it's the design on the tranny, fluids shouldn't have to be replaced... The tranny was build ridgid to handle abuse so it's not going to feel like a porsche

Maybe you're just feeling what ALL Evo's feel like. The shifting is suppose to be very notchy and solid, not mushy like other 5 speed cars.

I had a bad case of the notchiness before I installed the ss clutch line.

Cleared mine up almost 100%. Still a little "rigidity" in the shifter, but I expect that from a performance oriented transmission.

I did the clutch line upgrade, changed out the fluids, and installed aftermarket metal bushings in the shifter. Made a huge difference. The gears engage a lot smoother now.

I bought my metal bushings from lancershop.com. However, last time I checked, they pulled them off their site because they were on backorder. The install is super simple. Just pull off the center console and you will see the plastic shifter base plate. Just pop out the old bushings and replace with the new bushings. Should take no longer than 30-45 min. Do a short shifter search on this site. A few people already posted about how to change out the shifter and bushings.

By center console I mean the covering that hides the shifter assembly between the seats not the part that holds your stereo. Sorry for not being clear.
