stock evo boost reading

hi everyone, i really need some help here, can anyone tell me what the boost reading is for a stock evo, i just install a boost gauge and my reading is i boost to 19psi and then drop to around 12psi and hold it there, it feel like the ecu is cutting the boost. is that normal? or i have a leak somewhere? is there a way to check, i also have hks intake, greddy e-01, hks ground wires. please help. i have run the stock boost controller and the e-01, same result

mine holds around 18-19sih in 4th and 5th gear WOT....but other than that it seems to drop...my vacuum seems to read a little weird...I seem to see like 25 vac at idle...and 20 letting off gas, and then like 15-17ish when first starting the car....dont know if this will help??

i dont know about low gears...havent really looked....but i think it drops...its normal on the evo...but when i do a WOT run, I am usually on the interstate at around 70 or so...so i am in 4th or 5th when i do..??

also...my needle tends to bounce up and down a tiny tiny bit (not noticable without getting right upon it) at idle...

if your running a boost controller and your boost is that erratic, then I tihnk there is a tuning or install problem, it should be 11-12psi off and hold whatever psi you set it to run.

Stock boost on mine is:

4TH=19PSI
5TH=19PSI
1ST-3RD= 19PSI then tapers to 15PSI near 5k RPM.

Vacume is around 17 at idle.

i am sure is not tuning and install problem, and there's nothing wrong with the ebc because when i am running the stock boost controller, it does the same thing, my question is, is stock evo suppose to only spike to 19 and hold at 12psi of boost on 2 gear? anyone?

That seems to be about right...give or take.
I have seen my car do about the same sometimes, other times it may not taper as much.

You have to take into account car to car variances weather conditions(temp and humidity) and various other factors. If you got a sub-par tank of gas your knock correction may change a bit therefore pulling back boost and timing a bit. It could be lotsa things.

Sounds like your boost readings are fine to me. Wait till you have had your boost guage for a while and you will have a better feel for what boost you see for various conditions.

but that still didn't answer y my boost just drops off after it hits 19psi, when i first got my car, it taper off, now it just drops, u can feel it, like a fuel cut, can it be my wastegate is no good? but i think the wastegate is only open and closed, no in between. would it be a boost leak? but i shouldn't be hitting 19psi at all if i have a boost leak. my only answer is that the ecu is somehow shutting my boost off, can the ecu do that? any thoughts?

I really think it has to be a LEAK or something is connected wrong. Reinstall eveyrhting and use ALL NEW HOSES this time and check for any LEAKS .
