T-case fluid: Redline HVY WEIGHT vs MITSU LSD GEAR OIL

So I know that the Mitsu LSD gear oil is the perfect fluid for the t-case, but I've heard that the Redline heavyweight shockproof (red) is better for a drag racing situation. I've also seen some people (even friends of mine) with failures when running Redline products (that aqua blue stuff) in their Evo transmissions, so it has made me kind of skeptical of Redline. What do you guys think?

Thanks
William

I've also see alot of people talking about Amsoil on here, but I just haven't seen any proof that it is any better than the fluids mentioned above (that is for transmission and t-case).

I never used Redline only OEM then I changed to Amsoil back in June 09 never looked back the tranny and TC run nice and smooth. I drag and daily beat the hell out of my car and I have no issues. I do know of my buddy who ran redline and somehow still blew up his spider gear.

you dont see proof,, iam not sure what more than proof you want other than alot of folks using it and stating that there tranny smoothed out.

at the end of the day with redline you are getting a non synthetic and with AMSOIL you are getting a fully Syn oil... not to say Redline is a bad oil because it deos get the job done.

I used a mix of Redline Heavy-Weight and Diaqueen in my transfercase since the first fluid change. 75K miles later it's still going strong. And I do beat on it a lot. I am however on my 3rd transmission. Maybe I shift too quickly for my synchro? :}

Then you're doing it wrong...

My personal Evo 8 has had redline shock proof in the tcase for over 70,000 miles. Been through two 6 speeds from track use but the t-case has been with me for the long-haul.

Wow. I thought I was just lucky. I just rebuilt to 2.3L and a bigger turbo so let's see if I could blow up my TC.

I only use heavyweight shock proof in the TC. My driveline has over 107k miles (over 150 1/4mile passes, 35-40 autox's and a dozen or so HPDE's) and not a single issue.

I just changed it last weekend and there wasn't a single metal shaving on my drain plug. I'll be sending my sample off to blackstone labs for analysis.

btw, doesn't john @ tre highly recommend heavy weight shock proof???
