New Turbo

So I'm looking into getting a new turbo setup. I'm building my car for autocross and road racing so I'm needing a turbo setup with good all around power and fast spool times. I'm also wanting to make anywhere around 550-650awhp. I've been looking at GT3076, FP Red 80mm and also the larger ones like a gt3582 or pte 6262. Just would like some other thoughts on what I should look into getting.

All those turbos listed are capable of hitting your numbers, just at different boost levels(3076 pushed hard). So what mods do you have to the engine and what fuel are you running? If you are trying to run on pump you will need the larger turbos. I personally like the PTE 6262 or the 3586 for your application since your goals can be had at lower boost levels

I'd go with the 80mm red or the precision. I'd stay away from garrett products..

why would you stay away from garrett products? they are superior to precision.

6262 is not for autox. If youre running slicks while your autox, i would say a nasty fp red or black setup. The black could give you plenty of power for a road course also.

Well I'd like to keep the setup around the 3k-4k range. I've got every supporting mod for an upgraded turbo, exept for a built motor(which I can't decide if I want to do that first or not) but I'm gonna be running e85 and I've also been thinking about running race gas cause the evo isn't my daily.

6262 and 35r are not really meant for auto-x, but more for all out ***** to the wall straight line power.

look into the 80mm fp red, or even an fp black. you will be very happy.

Yeah I've really been leaning more toward the the fp black. It will be able to make the power that I want and it doesnt cost that much.

Of the ones listed and for what you want to do all of them can make 550whp.

Not all of them can make 600whp.

Not all of them are good for autoX.

We have made 546 with a 64mm Red and Magnus with a MAF (S2s, 9:1 ER motor, E85) at 31psi.

I have seen multiple 3076s on E85 at 34psi make 557-564whp on E85

A Black needs 32-36psi to make 550-600whp on racegas or E

I have made 574 on pump at 29psi with a 3586. It wouldnt be an awesome autoX turbo however.

If you're truely looking for an auto-x setup and you're on a stock compression 2.0L engine, I don't think the red or black are going to be optimal. Green or White with instant spool are going to net you faster times. Most of the time at an auto-x you're not able to be on the power more than 2-3 seconds at a time, so the bigger turbos aren't as useful as they sound.

I'd say a 30r or 35r are also not what you'd be looking for either. I've got a 35r on a high compression stroker, and while its fun for road course, I'd imagine it much too laggy for auto-x....of course there's always anti-lag.

the Fp Red sounds like a good compromise for your needs...you can buy 2 for that price range and still have cash left over!

personally, i like the black more tho
