Oil pump gear one tooth off from factory...wtf?

reason im pretty sure it was only 1 off is cause when i got everything else tdc that gear was the only one not on the mark being 1 tooth off

If it was 180+1 tooth off, it would look the same. The only way you could tell, is if you took a screwdriver and ran it into the balance shaft hole on the side of the engine. The counter weight should be on the bottom of the shaft, if it's on top, you can't fit the screwdriver all the way into the hole.

The other way to tell, if if you put the timing mark at 12oclock and let it go. If the gear rolls clockwise, it's 180 out of phase(counter weight on top). If it rolls counter-clockwise slightly, it's in phase(counter weight on bottom).

yes i know this, 180 off would put the gear on the opposite side though
