4g63 bottom end... I did a search>
I searched the topic of the EVOVIII having forged crank and rods and every post was split on the answer. It seems half think they are forged and the other thinks cast??? I don't see how this could be such a mystery? Mitsu literature states they are forged. Why, and more importantly, HOW can they state this if its not true. All this talk about how bullet proof the EVOs motor is and yet there is question of if its forged or not. Someone has to have the FINAL answer! Forged or not!?!?!
Oh, and I wouldn't post this if I could find the answer in a search or elsewhere.

The crank and rods are forged. This is no big deal, most Japanese cars come with forged crank/rods. Nissan,Toyota, Honda all have used forged internals on even their entry level cars (civic, sentra, corolla). This however, does not mean that they are the forged pieces that most think about. They do not look like Carillo, Crower rods. They are the mass produced tye, while still being very strong, they dont compare in strength to aftermarket pieces. The pistons are cast aluminum that are treated to withstand higher temps.
