NEED HELP!! with my mr
1st off let me just say I have searched left and right and I can’t seem to get enough info on what I want to buy. So sorry if it’s been asked a million times but I’m just tired of searching. I have a 2006 mr stock. I’m looking 4 a good intercooler and all the intake piping and a good full exhaust. I’m looking for the best money can buy without having to cut or remove the crash bar or anything else. I don’t want to buy something so big that my hood has to be open all the time for the intercooler to fit. For the exhaust I want something that’s stainless steel or better and I don’t want the mega man arm at the end. Something with a nice distinctive sound. I don’t want a cat and I have no clue about the header all I know is I’m keeping the stock turbo for now. All I’m trying to accomplish is getting the most out of the car without tearing it apart and rebuilding it. If anyone has a good website, pics, or audio clips id really appreciate it. also i dont think anyone has a 6speed short shifter right??
As far as an exhaust manifold for the stock turbo, You are pretty much wasting your money if you get a tubular header. Why? Because it has been proven time and again that a well ported and coated stock cast manifold puts out essentially the same power as a tubular piece at a fraction of the cost.
If you must have a tubular header, then either the Shearer or Full Race headers are very nice. But, take my advice and just get a Buschur, or PPI ported and coated stock manifold instead.

Porting is your friend. Have the exhaust manifold ported. Yes, and port the turbo's turbine housing. An O2 housing upgrade such as Buschur Racing's ported and coated unit is good as well. A lot of people like the Megan O2 housing as well. Or you can go to an O2 dump housing such as Shearer, or MAP.
AS far as a tubular header is concerned, there is not really much of bang for the buck when using a stock based turbo upgrade. The really good ones are expensive and only add about 5 WHP over a ported stock manifold. The cheaper tubular headers are constantly cracking.
Most people on here, even those running the larger stock framed turbo upgrades such as the FP HTA Green, The Red, The Black, BBK, etc. are still running a stock ported manifold.
Have PPI port the intake manifold and get a ported throttle body as well.

ETS, Buschur, and AMS are all #1 in EVO performance. You will not go wrong with any of those three shops.
I choose ETS as there customer service, parts fitment, and value are all top notch.
But the same can be said about Buschur and AMS as well. Do some research call the shops and go with who tickles you the right way or gives you that warm fuzzy

If I was going to start over and buy everything you are looking at, I would buy CBRD new 3.8" front mount, or ETS 3.8" Garrett core IC. For IC pipes, I would go with the ETS if your going to do a mini battery and Injen if your not. As for a turbo back exhaust, I would go with the Cobb Tuning with the race pipe if you can find it, I think they stopped making it. And for the header, best bang for your buck is a ported stocker and it you want a tubular header, the new Full-Race Twin Scroll for stock turbo. As for the 02, I would do the MAP dump. Thats would be my new set up if I was starting over now!
any exhaust that has a really good sound to it? by good to me means like a deep sound no mega man arm somthing i guess if people heard the car comming they would know it was a evo?

these intercoolers ur talking about dont just fit in u need to cut or remove the crash bar?? im not looking to do somthing where i dont need to remove the crash bar. if theres somthing big that works around it then fine.

Chad told me that the CBRD will fit without any cutting or modification of the crash bar, lower panels, etc. I can't confirm either way about the ETS though.
why would you buy/install intercooler if your car is basicly stock? put money into something else, port your stock headers, port your stock o2 housing, as far exhaust? just look around and buy full exhaust, in for sale section, used. than buy MBC, K&N drop in filter, fuel pump. And get it tuned. Done.
if you buy ams intercooler or buschur, crash beam stays, only on race intercoolers, crash beam needs to be removed.

No cutting at all! It's perfect fitment! That's as large as you can go without cutting or removing the crash beam. That goes for both CBRD and ETS.
