So I am going to give Motul a try.

I got 3qts of Motylgear 75W-90 and 1qt of Gear Competition FF Gearbox & LSD Oil - 75W-140

I opted for the Motylgear after some researching, next time thru I will try the Gear 300 oil. I am coming from Royal Purple Gear Max, I do have the cold 2nd gear notch with the Royal Purple. I will post my findings.

From what I've read, non-oem trany fluid is o.k. in the 5sp only. With the 6sp MR, I would suggest only using the oem Diaqueen fluids. I have a hunch that all the complaints about the 6sp trany being week and overheating/failing in 3rd gear are at least partially due to aftermarket fluids being used.

I went OEM Mitsu for all 3, from info learned on the board here, lots of knowledge. I run Amsoil in the engine, I like that product and would use their fluids for a 2nd choice. I don't drag and haven't modded my car, not yet anyway. Love the canyons though.

When I got the trans fluid for the 6 speed the parts guy said the part number is now the same for both 5 and 6 speed. Not sure if that's a recent change or not. I remember reading on this subject and thought the fluids did used to be different between the two. I'd think they used what they sell for the 6 speed in 5 speeds as well. From what I read in other threads quite a while back, it does work well in the 5 speeds.

Old thread - I know.

On my 9 MR (all stock) I am using OEM Diaqueen. I find the 1-2 shift slightly notchy when cold. When warm, smooth as butter. Is that pretty normal, or a different fluid would be better?
