Did you resurface your flywheel on your Exedy Twin?

Hey guys I pulled my clutch out today and I caught it just before it went to the rivets. Mike and Anthony @ AWD recommend I buy the floater plates too, which will be in tomorrow with the clutch. Resurfacing the flywheel will be fine right?

Thanks in advanced.

I'm used to 6 puck clutches with stock flywheels, so I'm unsure.

My Exedy HD twin came with a new Exedy flywheel. The resurfaced stock one will suffice though.

Yes, it has to be done on an " Blanchard Grinder " whatever comes off of the flywheel surface must come off of the towers. Make sure the machine shop puts a reference mark , for the part is balanced from exedy.

usually the flywheel is ok to get skimmed, it's the top pressure plate thats dished that needs to be binned and a new one installed

bump from the dead...is this true that the towers on the flywheel must be cut down the same amount that is shaven from the flywheel surface?

bump.. does anyone have any knowledge first hand here..Do the towers have to be cut the same amount as the flywheel surface.

The machine shop cut my towers down the same amount the cut my flywheel. I am trying to figure out if this is alright.

yes, the towers need to be ground the same amount. if you take .005" off the disc surface then take .005" off the towers.

yea the machinist did the towers the same as the surface...i didnt even ask him to do it but i guess he knew it was routine to do this..i just wanted to make sure this was normal to do when rebuilding an exedy twin..i always hear of people resurfacing them but no one ever mentions doing the towers as well... thanks for the responses.
