^^ try adjusting your pedal, also remember what happens to metal under extreme cold conditions,, well metal shrinks and expands under heat and thats why it will shift better when warm because all internals loosen up.

but a good fluid will help with cold shifting, a good fluid will stay clinged onto the syncros, sliders, forks and gears over night so the next morning you can have smooth shifting.

Note: In seattle it was 32 degrees, no snow, mildly damp ground and no noticable wind chill. If you lived in the mid-west where you get sevear winters i'd hate to be on Redline!
Its not just Redline. The OEM fluid is also crap when cold, so is BG synrcomesh and other fluids I have tried.

which is the purpose of this thread.

I'm telling you that I switched to the Amsoil products and didnt have this problem which was present with RedLine.

sooo unless your going to tell me that my first hand experience is garbage and that posting up and trying to help the OP while staying on topic is also un-productive I dont know what else I need to do to make you happy.

wow all this time and i did not realize you were using AMSOIL, many evom members have the same experiences you have had with the MTG GL4 for the tranny.

many advantages to have from an oil that is fully synthetic and that has been passing all ASTM industry standard testing with high colors.

Well, I wouldnt tell you your experience is "garbage". Its your experience, not mine.

I have also had a good amount of "first hand" experience, as I have used/tried a many tranny oils and have always had cold shifting problems on all 3 EVO I have owned (and most other AWD cars I have owned).

I havent tried AMSOIL but am already in talks with apagan01 to get some AMSOIL to try it out.

^ I think you will be happy with it. obviously when the fluid is warm and at higher RPM's they should all feel good, but I dont like a car that only works properly in a limited range (in this case temperature).

if I had a track car or felt for some reason that evo's were drag race cars (cause thats why they are AWD right????) then I wouldnt care at all. Buy i DD my evo and take it to ~5 track days per year and it has to work all day every day. (note: not saying you are a drag race type person or anything, was a general statement)

I can say that Amsoil is the business. When Mike Reichen tuned my car I was running the Redline cocktail. It would be all notchy when it was cold and would get better as it warmed up. But even when it got warm I still didn't like the way it felt. I strongly feel something that works should work all the time. I gave Amsoil a try and immediately the difference was night and day. It shifted a whole alot better at engine start and the notchy feeling was gone. It felt better when the engine warmed up. I will never go back to a redline product.

He was shocked when I told him it was a stock 90 dsm rebuild (the worst year) with just bronze synchro's. This was at 32psi up to 9K without skipping a beat. The Amsoil trans fluid made that much of a difference.

that is really good, i am really please with the reports,,,,, and also knowing that all testing conducted by AMSOIL that says that our oils are and will enhance performance and now showing in customers positive feedback, it comes to show AMSOIL is a great product.

I have been recently using redline lightweight shockproof. It had the best cold weather/cold fluid where it felt the least notchy. The llightweight eliminated all the high rpm lockout I would randomly get during autox. I just wasnt too crazy about the weird blue color. I switched it out for amsoil mtg. Amsoil was a bit more notchy when cold, and some of the lockout is back, but transmission overall seems to like it. I have been reading on here about longterm effects of the lightweight on evo trannys so I will just stick to amsoil mtg.

MTG GL4 75W90, DSM's 1G and 2Gs, evos 1-9 GSR and MR, evo 10 only for GSR,,, the MR uses a hydraulic type fluid.
