You may want an engine mount too to keep the engine from rocking too much which ALSO causes lockout.

How much chatter from a dead stop ? Noise (rattle) running in neutral ? Any idea on life expectancy ? Thanks !

Below is a post I put in another thread yesterday. Be sure to check the pedal height.

I have installed the ACT HDG6 around 59,xxx miles. I'm currently right below 67,000 miles. The car drives fine. I haven't done any hard launches from a dead stop but from a roll I haven't experienced any high rpm lockout. Actually ever since I changed the clutch I haven't had any tranny grids while shifting. Because the clutch grabs harder than stock and is a 6 puck instead of a full face it does require a bit more pedal work when coming from a stop on a hill. To be fair my girl is 5 feet tall and can drive the Evo just fine on hills. She hasn't complained of the pedal being any stiffer than stock either.

I also installed the clutch with my brother, who is an ASE certified technicain, in a house hold garage. We changed all the fluids for the transmission, transfer case, and differentials. We did not change the clutch fluid. After the install my brother adjusted the pedal height because the stock height was not fully disengaging the clutch. If high rpm lockouts occur it is a good idea to check the pedal height and see if the clutch is fully disengaging when the clutch pedal is pressed.

when i shift slow and drive slow, clutch grab and engage fine. Only when wot and quick shift, trans grind and wont engage gear. Especially third to forth gear, and forth to fifth. Think my transmission might broke who know.

I'm on my 2nd ACT and no issues at higher power than most using this clutch; first clutch was a street disk and now a 6-puck.

The thread starter scared me. I JUST purchased the ACT HDG6 clutch kit. I always figured ACT was quality. I mean if they weren't, they wouldn't be so big. I hope mine works well.....

Which 6-puck are you using? Are you using the G6 or R6? Could you comment any driving differences you might have noticed between the street disk and the 6-puck? And how many miles did you get out of your first ACT and what was your driving style with it?

Are you installing it yourself or are your having a shop do it? If you do it yourself just make sure the flywheel is surfaced properly, the transmission shifter bushing are reinstalled correctly, and the pedal height is adjusted accordingly. Also I'm not sure how many people know about this but when you are using a new flywheel you want to clean it out, even if it looks clean, with brake parts cleaner. Usually on new flywheels and brakes there is a clear protective coat that needs to be cleaned out before installation. I don't know how many miles you have on your Evo but changing out the fluids for the transfer case, transmission, and differentials would be a good idea.

Sprung 6-puck w/ HD pressure plate. I was running the street disk w/ HD pressure plate before. I'm still breaking in the 6-puck but it's not much harder to drive than the street disk. A little more chatter, but it still shifts like butter. First ACT lasted ~20k miles w/ power ranging from 370whp to 520whp. It started slipping towards the end of it's life, but it still held up to 127mph traps when I was back on a 50-trim. I'm pretty easy on the car; occasional highway pulls and maybe 1-2 visits to the dragstrip per year. I don't drag race stoplight to stoplight

^Thanks. I'm glad i went with the G6 instead of the street disk. I also have a little chatter but it doesn't bother me. I wonder how long mine will last.
