Have a new (used 20k miles on it) power steering pump going in next week.

We'll see if thats the culprit or if Doug can work his wizardry and find out what it is.

 

Took the car to Doug's Automotive (Thanks to EvoMike) and he swapped in a new (ahem used with 20K miles) power steering pump. Now the car sounds great. The engine noise has gone way down, even aside from the metal ringing sound. Its nice to just hear my exhaust and have things working properly.

Now its time to think about replacing my worn out struts.
